![]() Ben Laffer (pictured right in white) has lived in Cambodia since 1993. He is an avid motorcyclist. In early 1998 he and riding partner Zeman McCreadie founded Angkor Dirt Bike Tours after finding overwhelming interest in the weekend tours they took into the Cambodian countryside. From the mountains of Bokor to the ancient temples of Angkor, few have travelled and seen Cambodia like Laffer and McCreadie. Every year the ADBT team sets off on a new destination or revisits an old favorite. The 2001-2002 season looks to be the most ambitious yet, with a little something for everyone. The two friends organised the country's first off road tour, the Mondulkiri Rally-Raid, in 1998. With major sponsors from Land Rover, Mobitel communications, TOTAL and Mild Seven, the event was an immediate success with over twenty nine motorcyclists accompanied by four back-up vehicles and riders coming from all over the world to take part in the six day event. The event, which kicked off in Phnom Penh, took in some of the country's most rugged and beautiful scenery, traveling through towns and villages that had never seen proper dirt bikes, let alone twenty-nine of them accompanied by Land Rover support vehicles. The Mondulkiri Rally-Raid, a non-competitive event, has nevertheless become a major feature of the national sporting calender. This season's Fourth Annual Mondulkiri Rally Raid will leave Phnom Penh on February 9th, 2002, for a week long ride into unexplored areas of beautiful Mondulkiri province. As with all the tours, Angkor Dirtbike Tours offers full back-up on the Rally-Raid, including a four-wheel drive back-up vehicle on full mechanical breakdown assistance. more | Why Cambodia? |
